Did you know that there were entire websites devoted to the dissemination of smoking cartoons? Obviously, when thinking of cartoons, smoking usually does not enter into the thought process. After all, for many of the current grown up generation cartoons spoke of Mickey Mouse or perhaps Mad Magazine. Yet while these cartoons are still out there, others are also vying for the attention of the general public. Take for example the pot smoking cartoons which almost unilaterally show the effects of the – still – illicit drug as being something akin to general silliness and harmless mischief.
While the cartoons smoking weed may not persuade you to start lighting up a blunt, they might serve to desensitize the next generation that is avidly surfing the web in search for humorous pictures to email back and forth to their friends. While stop smoking cartoons may not get nearly as many hits as smoking cartoons that feature a hookah, pipe, or otherwise clearly illegal substance, there is another phenomenon on the ‘Net: the cartoon character. Several cartoon characters smoking weed have reached a somewhat iconic status among web surfers who frequent these sites, and the adventures of the smoking cartoon characters are showcased in regular editions are long awaited by the interested public. For the average adult thinking about looking for a cartoon, smoking marijuana does not factor into the equation. Yet for some teens and even kids, a cartoon smoking weed is actually what they are looking for. It is not only the desensitization to the illicit drugs that makes cartoon smoking a bit dangerous, but it is also the humorous depictions of smoking - cartoons can make light of almost any subject – that has some parents worried. After all, smoking cartoons might put the character into ridiculous situations, but the real issue behind the cartoon characters smoking is the fact that a deadly substance it receiving a somewhat nonchalant treatment. If you are worried about smoking cartoons, it might be a good exercise to look up some quit smoking cartoons as well. If you see that your teen is enjoying a cartoon character smoking weed, why not help her or him to not only look at pictures of cartoon characters smoking or a smoking cartoon, but also at some real life pictures of the ravages that cigarettes and other tobacco products have brought about. The ‘Net is also home to some rather explicit pictures in this regard and in many ways it might take the hilarity out of the cartoon. |
